“Midnight Sun” is a film written and directed by Shobeir Shirazi and produced by Shahab Hosseini, released in 2015. The screenplay was inspired by the play “The Story of the Panda Bears” by Matei Vișniec and marks Shirazi’s first directorial experience. This film represents Shahab Hosseini’s first independent production role, in which he not only produced but also handled casting and acting direction.
The film narrates nine days in the life of a young singer, which are the most unique days of his life. The cast includes Arman Darvish, Sonbol Azami, Azadeh Mahdizadeh, Seyed Ali Sajadi, and Samaneh Esmaeili, alongside Reza Yazdani and Shahab Hosseini.
Shirazi emphasized that Shahab Hosseini took on the film’s production, stating, “Our main work is organizing multi-purpose cultural and artistic events, aiming to invigorate the cultural atmosphere of the country. Another goal is to support artists in the independent cinema sector and create opportunities for these talented individuals to continue their work.”
He concluded by saying, “The most important thing was Shahab Hosseini’s involvement as a producer and actor. He read the script and quickly agreed to collaborate with us as a producer. It’s best to say that Shahab Hosseini’s presence was truly meaningful. He supported and backed us in all stages of the work.”
