Reza Goodarzi and Shahab Hosseini in New View interview about “Shoot Oneself

The Iranian short film “Remake”, written and directed by Ali Tavakoli, has been officially selected for the 9th RealTime International Film Festival, held in Birmingham, UK, from July 25 to 28, 2025.

Produced by Mohajer Tohidparast and Fouad Javdan, the 15-minute drama has previously gained international recognition, including the Artistic Achievement Award at the Tehran International Short Film Festival (Oscar-qualifying), a Best Director nomination at TINFF Canada, and Best Short Film at You’re the Judge (China). It also won Best Cinematography at RTF RealTime (UK).

Synopsis:

A factory worker is suspected of murdering his colleague — yet he claims he was trying to save him…

“Remake” is also featured in an episode of New View, a program hosted by Shahab Hosseini, which introduces emerging talents of Iranian cinema to international audiences. In this episode, Ali Tavakoli discusses the film’s creation, its social themes, and the challenges of gaining international visibility.
