“Any Day Now” (2020), originally titled “Ensilumi” (meaning “first snow” in Finnish) is a Finnish-Iranian film written and directed by Iranian-born Finnish filmmaker Hamy Ramezan. It tells the story of an Iranian refugee family in Finland, managing to live a peaceful life despite their constant fear of deportation at any moment. The story was loosely inspired by real-life experiences of the film’s director. This film stars both Iranian and Finnish actors, with Iranian actors Shahab Hosseini and Shabnam Ghorbani playing the lead roles. Notable accolades for the film include Best Leading Actor award at the Jussi Awards and Best Supporting Actor award at the Beijing International Film Festival, both of which were received by Shahab Hosseini.
