“Mute” is a short film written by emerging filmmakers Mahan Talebian and Farimah Bahrami, and directed by Farimah Bahrami. It is the fifth short film released on the New View program on the Seven Skies Entertainment’s YouTube channel. As the name suggests, it is a silent film that narrates the story of a deaf couple trapped in the challenges of their marital relationship, but the story doesn’t end there. Talebian also plays the role of the deaf man in the film. “The acting was incredibly difficult and challenging, because it’s hard to deliver the emotions without dialogues,” Talebian speaks of his experience on New View. “When we wrote the script, we thought it would turn out really bad because it had no dialogues. But I guess it kind of got easier for me as I started acting. I felt like I have more freedom. Like, somehow, I felt more flexible in conveying the impressions, even though it’s always easier when you have dialogues.” Talebian says.
