After working on a number of films as a director in Iran, Shahab Hosseini debuted his directing career in the United States with the melodrama “The Writer Is Dead” in 2022, starring American actors Gia Mora and James Wagner. In early 2024, the screening of the film began in Tehran as well, and since then, it has received an abundance of positive feedback. It was released for the Iranian audience in two versions, either dubbed in Persian or with Persian subtitles. The voice actors behind the dubbed version are Iranian voice acting veterans Manoochehr Valizadeh and Zohreh Shokoufandeh as James Wagner and Gia Mora, respectively. The Persian subtitles in the captioned version were translated by Iranian translator Sepideh Khalili.
