If you’ve already seen ‘I Am a Woman’, a compelling piece by rising filmmaker Sahar Mahmoudi, then you might be curious: Is this her debut film? How long did production take? What inspired the idea? Has filmmaking always been her path? Is it based on true events? In this episode Sahar Mohammadi spoke about her film, stating:

“News about abandoned newborns in trash bins and the question of whether a mother could take such an action led me to explore the hidden realities behind these incidents—both in ordinary lives and unconventional relationships—as well as the stories that might lead to such events.”

She highlights the presence of actress Shirin Esmaeili, who is deeply passionate about her role and fully immerses herself in it, as well as the work of cinematographer Ali Ranjbar, who constantly strives to enhance the film’s quality, as key strengths of the project. The film has been screened at various international film festivals, earning numerous wins and nominations. Beyond participating in international competitions, Mahmoudi sees this as a step toward preparing for her first feature film.
