
‘I Am a Woman’, Another Narrative on Gender Discrimination
The short film ‘I Am a Woman’, written and directed by Sahar Mahmoudi and produced by Mohammadmatin Kohan-Torabi, tells the story of motherly love hidden behind a decayed romance, addressing gender discrimination.
Sahar Mahmoudi, born in 1991, began her artistic career in 2010 by acting in a theater production. She later earned a bachelor’s degree in painting from Semnan University of Art and solidified her place in the arts through writing and directing short films, participating in numerous international film festivals, and winning awards. Since 2022, she has been a lecturer at Tehran University Center and Karaj University, teaching cinema and theater students. Mahmoudi has also been active in research, writing, and publishing several books on cinema and theater, as well as producing short films on the global stage.
So far, ‘I Am a Woman’ has been selected for many international festivals with numerous wins and nominations:

The film stars Shirin Esmaeili, Pasha Rostami, Shiva Khosromehr, Mehdi Yeganeh, Shokoofeh Azizi, and Mohammad Javad Taheri.
