Shahab Hosseini in TV series "Fereshteh's Sin"

Iranian TV series “Fereshteh’s Sin” marks as Shahab Hosseini’s third experience in a streaming series. Directed by Hamed Angha, the series is a drama and family genre. This series has several winning elements on its path to visibility. One of the most prominent winning elements of this series is by far the casting arrangement. Shahab Hosseini takes on the role of a lawyer who must defend a girl accused of murder.

In his first collaboration with Hamed Angha, Hosseini delivered a brilliant performance as Hamed Tehrani. It must be admitted that the combination of professional actors in this series was overshadowed by the powerful presence of Hosseini in the first episode. He immerses himself in the role so completely that whether he is Qobad in “Shahrzad”, Moheb in “The Lion Skin” or Hamed in “Fereshteh’s Sin”, he becomes so involved in the character that the audience cannot help but follow him.

“Fereshteh’s Sin” presents a different portrayal of Hosseini’s acting. In this series, Hosseini plays a middle-aged man named Hamed Tehrani—a well-known and wealthy lawyer who is firmly established and stands his ground easily against his wife, father, and the court judges. With his graying beard, Hosseini plays a character of his own age. He sits in his luxurious law office, handles major financial cases leading to substantial profits, and looks down on others. Another significant point is that Hosseini plays the father of a teenage girl, and his paternal behavior adds stability and maturity to his character.

He effectively convinces the audience why he is regarded as a skilled lawyer. An energetic lawyer who, in the courtroom—a fixed and somewhat confined setting—exercises his power of expression and physical acting. Hosseini’s command of the role of Hamed is such that it is hard to believe anyone else could have brought the character to life as he did.

One of the most important characteristics of his role is his persistence and stubbornness. When he chooses to take on the defense of Fereshteh, he does not let his wife dissuade him or abandon the case due to its difficulties. His relationship with his powerful father does not resemble a typical father-son relationship; he even calls him by his first name and is not pleased to see him. He lost his mother years ago and is seeking to uncover the secret of her murder, which also contributes to his distrust of his father.

There is no doubt that Hosseini in “Fereshteh’s Sin ” portrays a character in a challenging situation and leaves a significant mark of his own.
