The feature film The Last Act, directed and produced by Shahab Hosseini, will be released in Iranian cinemas from September 30. This marks his fourth experience as a film director.
The story of this film is inspired by the political realities of revolutions around the world, yet it avoids direct geographical or personal references. It is adapted from the play The Last Curtain written by the late French author Gilbert Cesbron. The plot follows a dissident writer under persecution, who is arrested during his final meeting with his family, leading to an unexpected ending after a tense dialogue with a government officer.
Shahab Hosseini said about the project: The reason for making this film was my deep connection to the play, as living in a country with similar conditions made me truly understand its message.
Gia Mora, James Wagner, Armin Amiri, and Mohammad Motlagh star in the film.
The Resident of the Middle Floor, The Inhabitants of Nowhere, and The Writer is Dead are the other three films directed by Shahab Hosseini.
The Last Act has already participated in more than fourteen international film festivals, including the 78th Salerno International Film Festival and won the Best North American Film Award at TinFF, recognized by the Canadian Academy of Cinema.
The film will be distributed in Iranian cinemas by Khaneh Film.
