American production ‘The Writer Is Dead’ recently had its online premiere on Seven Skies Entertainment’s official website in two versions; official language (English) with Persian subtitles, and a Persian-dubbed version.
Did you know that this film is Shahab Hosseini’s first directing experience in the United States? It was filmed entirely in English, starring American actors. The script was initially written in Persian by Iranian writer Arash Abbasi, and then it was translated into English. “I have always been interested in international filmmaking through collaboration with talented Iranian writers,” Hosseini says. “This film was my first step towards this goal.”
‘The Writer Is Dead’ went on to win the Best Feature Film award at Cine Paris Film Festival in 2022 and was later nominated for Best Feature Film again at the Jaipur International Film Festival in 2023.
