Reza Goodarzi and Shahab Hosseini in New View interview about “Shoot Oneself

The Iranian short film “Shoot Oneself”, written and directed by Reza Goodarzi, has made its 12th international appearance by being officially selected for the 5th Kobani Film Festival in Bochum, Germany, taking place from September 6–9, 2025.

Produced by the Iranian Youth Cinema Society in collaboration with the director himself, the film recently won the Jury’s Cash Prize at the 24th CineCorto Film Festival in Spain.

“Shoot Oneself” has already screened at numerous renowned international film festivals including: Sandascreen (Italy), TerrorShorts (France), CineForum (Spain), Poppy Jasper (USA), EduState (Nigeria), Youality (France), Roshd Festival (Iran), Tris Cinematography (Italy), Cineaste (India), and was also awarded for Best Makeup Design at the Cinergo Festival in Greece.

 Film Synopsis:

“Only the dead have seen the end of war.”

Amidst the dead and wounded on the battlefield, a gravely injured soldier struggles to escape from an enemy officer who is executing wounded soldiers with a final bullet. His wounds hold him back… as the officer draws closer and closer.

The film is now featured in a special interview on New View, a talk series hosted by Shahab Hosseini, dedicated to discovering emerging talents in Iranian cinema and introducing them to the global stage. In this episode, Reza Goodarzi joins the show to share the behind-the-scenes journey, creative process, and the film’s path to international recognition.
